Stint Length

Each rental stint may vary from one (1) hour, to a maximum of two (2) hours in length. Stint length may vary based on, but not limited to, weather, race track conditions, fuel consumption, strategy, etc. You are not guaranteed a fixed minimum stint length.

Our Responsibilities

 

EcotecMiata shall provide a safe vehicle solely for the purpose of amateur road racing that complies with the required safety specifications of the race organization. We shall be responsible for transporting said vehicle to and from the race track. We will do our best to present a car at race start that is race worthy and is in as good a condition as possible.

 

We also endeavor to have available as many spare parts for repairs as is feasible. However, we are not expected to bring all conceivable spare parts that may fail during the course of the race.

 

Your Responsibilities

During your stint, You, the driver, are responsible for returning the car in the same condition that it arrived, less normal race wear. Damages to the race car from any on-track incidents are solely the responsibility of You, the driver. There are NO “no-fault accidents”. You, the driver, must be aware of your surroundings at all times. Do not place the car in a situation which could result in a collision or damage.

 

Additionally, mechanical issues may arise during the course of racing. You, the driver, are responsible to use your best discretion during these situations. Please consult with the pit crew over the radio, or pit in for inspection, if such an incident should occur.

 

History has shown that most of our on-track failures have been a result of either collision or lack of mechanical empathy. This is endurance racing, not a sprint race. Bring the car back after your stint in the same condition that it was given to you.

 

We understand that during the course of racing incidences such as over-revs and locked brakes happen. Notify us over the radio so we can make decisions about how to proceed. The car is equipped with a data logging system and multiple cameras which will be reviewed in detail. Driver errors and on track incidences such as contact, over-revs, and locked brakes will be noted and discussed with You. Please be honest and We will manage the incident fairly and reasonably.

 

Damage Fees

Regular maintenance and items with a known service life are included in your rental cost.

• The engine rev limit is 7200RPM. The car is equipped with an intelligent series of shift lights to aid you incorrect gear selection for downshifting. They are also VERY bright when you approach the rev limit.

• The car does not have ABS brakes so locking the tires will cost You not only in lap times but in the replacement cost of any damaged tire(s).

• A broken shifter bushing is purely the result of You being too aggressive. Take 0.1 seconds longer to execute the shift and not only will the transmission thank you, your teammates will too.

• The car is equipped with warning indicators for any critical engine parameters. It is the responsibility of You the driver to notify the crew as soon as any warning(s) illuminates. Warnings are in place for various temperature sensors as well as pressures.

 

Below is a list of items that are not considered regular maintenance. You are responsible for respecting the car and our equipment. Collision damage will be charged at a minimum of $100 per incident regardless of severity. Maximum collision damage is capped at $10,000. This is less than the cost to build a replacement car.

Engine Over-Rev - 7500-8000RPM - $400

Engine Over-Rev - >8000RPM - $800

Engine Over-Rev - Catastrophic Failure - $2000

Tires - $180ea

Shifter Bushing/Linkage - $100

 

Lost Track Time Compensation

We, EcotecMiata, cannot be held responsible for the actions of You or the others on the track. In the event the car is no longer able to continue due to a collision, on track incident, or failure it is the sole responsibility of the renters to communicate with each other in regards to reimbursement. We are not responsible for reimbursing drivers for any lost track time.

 

In the event the car is unable to continue due to unforeseen mechanical issues We may issue a partial refund for the track time You lost. This will not be a total reimbursement as most of the rental fee is already spent on fixed expenses. We aim to reimburse You the amount of direct consumable items that were not used due to the mechanical failure of the car. If, however, the mechanical failure was due to any items listed in the table above We will not be held responsible for refunding any amount.

 

Hospitality

Included in your rental fee is lunch, beverages, and snacks for any day(s) you are racing. Breakfast and dinner may also be offered, but not guaranteed. If you have any allergies or specific dietary requirements please let us know as soon as possible.

 

Transportation of Yourself to and from the race event, as well as accommodations during the event is Your responsibility.

 

Driver Gear and Equipment

You are responsible for your own safety gear and any required inspection of said items, including but not limited to a racing suit, HANS device, gloves, and shoes that comply with the race organization rules. You are also responsible for being a member in good standing with any sanctioning body that We race with, as required.

Our in-car radio system uses an IMSA connector. It is your responsibility to have appropriate radio gear.

The car is equipped with adjustable seating and every effort will be made to ensure your comfort within the available adjustments. However, based on Your height and weight optimal seating position may not be achievable.

We do not have the time or the space to accommodate your action camera. The car is equipped with two cameras that should record the entire race. If you want video footage of your stint please bring your own storage device and we will gladly make you a copy.
